Summer is fast approaching or is already here, and you are just realizing how lazy you have been all winter. Well it’s time to get busy, get motivated, and get that beach body back into shape for the summer. This is fairly easy to do, especially if you have typically not had a weight problem, or you have simply become lazy in the colder months.
Your first step to getting your beach body back into shape is to get motivated. You can do that by pulling out your beach wear from last summer and hanging it where you can see it throughout the day. Once you feel motivated, you need to get busy cleaning out that refrigerator and your cabinets. Get rid of anything that is not healthy, low fat, high protein, or low carb. If you don’t have these foods in your house you will not feel the need to eat them.
Once you have done the preliminary work you need to set yourself a goal and decide how you will get there. Make a meal plan full of healthy meals and snacks, and hit the grocery store with your list. Don’t buy anything that isn’t on the list and you’ll be fine. Follow your meal plans to the letter, and don’t cheat at all. Your meal plan should be full of snacks and small meals that have you eating throughout the day so that you don’t feel deprived.
You should also come up with an exercise plan. It is recommended that the average person get at least 150 minutes of cardio or aerobic exercise per week. If you are trying to lose weight and burn fat, you may need to work out longer than that, say sixty minutes per day four days a week instead of thirty minutes per day. You should also be doing at least two days, if not three days, of strength training or anaerobic exercise. This way you can build lean muscle mass while you are also burning fat and calories.
Another exercise option is circuit training. Circuit training combines strength or resistance training with cardio or aerobic exercise. This makes it so that you are getting the most out of your exercise time. In addition, you can get in your aerobic exercise in the form of running, bicycling, or using machines like an elliptical each and every day. This high level of exercise is not recommended for long periods of time, but for the short amount of time you will need to get back into shape for the summer it should not be difficult or overly hard on your body.
All in all, you have to focus on diet and exercise. You cannot starve yourself, but you have to eat in moderation and eat the right foods. Additionally, you cannot overdo it on the exercising, but you must get enough exercise so that you are burning more fat and calories than you are taking in. This is the only way you can lose weight quickly and effectively.
